I came into the studio this morning at 7 a.m. My car thermometer said 92 degrees. Officially, we are on day 18 of over 100 degrees. I pulled this image out of archive because just looking at it made me feel a little cooler. Fortunately, we are shooting in the air conditioned studio today.

Recently I held a very large casting at the studio. This actor came to audition and right away I knew that I wanted to make a portrait of him that would have a retro look and feel about it. It just so happens that he loves dogs and what is more classic than a boy and his dog? A lot of times when I look at vintage photographs, one of the things that I think makes them good is that they are from a time that has past. The image doesn’t portray the everyday familiar. With the proliferation of photography and snap shots that we look at everyday, sometimes it takes an image that is not set in current time to make us stop, look, and remember.

It’s been a long productive day! We are excited about all of the new work.
