There are single words in a foreign language that evoke a whole feeling.  In Spain “ambiente” is one of them.   It’s a place that people want to be. A place that once you are there, you instantly know it is comfortable and where you should be.  It is usually a place that is crowded because people are magically drawn to to be there.  I spent a lovely afternoon in an outdoor cafe in a place with ambiente.  A glass of sangria, tapas and people watching.  It was perfect.  What is the single word in the English language that can conjure up a feeling of ambiente?

Hooray for the fans!  Hooray for the kids! Now if we could just have some cool weather to go along with the good news we’d be ready for the season to begin.

A few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to get to spend some time breathing in the fresh mountain air in Colorado.  Crested Butte is a small town with a lot of charm, beautiful scenery, lots of outdoor recreation and great people.  On my first day in town, I stumbled upon the Gas Cafe. A gas station with a grill.  Breakfast and lunch are served daily.

Not many tourists, mostly locals line up for breakfast.  Everything is served on a muffin or toast in a red basket with a red and white checked paper liner. You can picture that in your head.

When I travel, I make it a point to see the typical tourist things however, I find that I spend more time seeking out the locals and the places that they go.  Through the years the rewards from the extra effort of finding places “not in the book” have paid off in a new perspective on places that I have travelled.  This cafe, in a gas station, certainly was one of those places.

Have a great weekend.  Go out and capture some memories.

We had a lot of fun with this project for White Cloud. These are animated stills that we shot for the website.  We love the creative on this project.  We also photographed the “Roll-volution” for the header on the website, check it out.

The campaign has been such a huge success, we were hired to shoot a second part to it.  Like White Cloud on Facebook and you can make your own customized video to call out your friends that never change the toilet paper roll.

A few months ago I was hired to shoot a series of ads for Comerica Bank.  All of the portraits were photographed in my Dallas, TX studio using various “locations” within the studio.  I am always grateful to work with amazing creative and a talented casting director and stylists that make everything come together seamlessly.
