This is the very first image I made while I was in Spain.  Normally I photograph people but when I first saw this staircase in my hotel I knew that I had to photograph it.  I was surprised at how often I found myself making pictures of architecture while I was in Spain.  Although the architects for the hotel are Javier Mariscal and Fernando Salas I was most inspired by the many projects of Gehry and Calatrava. Deconstructivism is alive and well in the examples of their work in Spain.

It would not be possible to go to Spain for 12 days and avoid Don Quixote.  The Man of La Mancha.  I was there.  In La Mancha.  Drinking wine.  And I found him.  The modern day Don Quixote.
