Last week I was in Chicago on business, shooting, seeing clients, meetings, the usual.  Friday was a particularly difficult day. I had a morning meeting and an afternoon meeting with quite a time gap in between.  It was one of those days when easy things became difficult for no apparent reason.  My phone was dropping calls, I stepped in a puddle, nothing that was going to stop the world but it all adds up.  I hopped in a cab to go across town.  I felt like the cab driver was going the wrong direction so I pulled out my iPhone to check the GPS and BAM!  There I was in a car wreck.  I was fine.  But it was just another frustration to add to my day.  After I gathered my things I began walking.  I stopped because I wasn’t sure where I was and looked up to see …

Suddenly, my day was looking up.  Way up.  I used to go to the Berghoff as a little boy with my Grandfather.  I was told they had closed.  If they did, last Friday they were open again.  And no I didn’t hit my head in the cab. It wasn’t a dream.  That is real beer in that glass.  The Berghoff is a grand old restaurant.  A place that you always want to go back to when you are in town.

It’s a place where a guy like me that’s having a bad day can go and turn your day around.  So that’s just what I did.  And that’s just what happened.
